Wisdom Coaching and Counselling
A supportive and confidential space for reflection and personal growth.
Hello, and welcome! I’m Penny, a qualified counsellor and life coach dedicated to supporting women on their personal growth journeys. I offer both in-person and online sessions to suit your needs.

I’m Penny, the founder of Wisdom Coaching and Counselling. I am a qualified BSc counsellor and life coach, and I run a women’s counselling and coaching practice supporting clients from age 18 and through all life stages.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in the accounting field. However, my passion was always to work as a counsellor, and eventually, after experiencing health concerns and emotional and physical burnout, I embarked on a healing journey and followed my passion in training as a therapist and life coach.
In addition to my qualifications, after navigating many adverse life experiences, this wealth of experience enables me to genuinely relate empathically to many women who are also facing life struggles. I have a great hope that you, too, can turn your situation around. Having a good support system can make all the difference, and I hope that I can be part of your healing journey.
Other roles that I have embarked on include working in partnership with social services, charity organisations, youth services, alternative education schools, Christian pastoral work in my local community and church.
I have supported many women in their emotional and psychological healing journey, including:
First Class honours BSc Counselling
CPCAB Life Coaching qualification
Registered Member of BACP (MBACP)
Member of the Association of Christian Counsellors (MACC)
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Life Coach, working from a pluralistic framework that values individuality, inclusivity, and flexibility. This means I tailor my approach to each person’s unique needs, drawing from a range of therapeutic models to best support their journey.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly engage in CPD training to enhance my skills in areas such as:
I work in alignment with the BACP Ethical Framework, ensuring that my practice remains safe, ethical, and grounded in professional integrity. Providing an inclusive, respectful, and person-centred service is central to my work, and I continuously strive to uphold these values in all aspects of my practice.
I’m a relational counsellor first, which means building a genuine connection with you is at the heart of how I work. If you don’t feel safe, trusted, or comfortable with your therapist, it’s much harder to open up and express your inner world. So, our first priority will be to build a real, honest relationship where you feel heard and respected.
I work from a pluralistic framework, which means I believe there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy or coaching. Everyone is unique, so I draw from a wide range of therapies and techniques to tailor our sessions specifically to your needs, preferences, and goals. This flexible approach allows us to find what works best for you.
Here’s a brief look at some of the approaches I use and how they can support you:
Person-Centred Therapy
Creating a warm, accepting space where you can be yourself without judgment, helping you feel truly heard and understood.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Practical tools to help identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, especially useful for managing anxiety, depression, and stress.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Exploring how past experiences influence your present, helping uncover patterns and gain insight.
Existential Therapy
Supporting you through life’s big questions about meaning, purpose, and identity.
Mindfulness and Self-Compassion
By embedding mindfulness practices and cultivating self-compassion, you can become more present with your thoughts and feelings, gently reconnect with yourself, while calming your nervous system and deepening self-awareness, understanding, and acceptance.
Life Coaching skills
Life coaching can help you gain clarity, set meaningful goals, set boundaries, overcome obstacles, and build confidence — empowering you to move forward with purpose and create the life you want.

Religion, Spiritual Issues, and Beliefs
Our beliefs about spirituality and religion can deeply influence how we see ourselves, others, and the decisions we make in life. read more...
Sometimes, these beliefs bring comfort, guidance, and strength. Other times, they can create confusion, fear, or conflict, especially when trying to fit into a wider culture that may not share your values or experiences.
You might find that prayer and religious practices are a vital part of your daily life, or perhaps you’re struggling with doubts, spiritual abuse, or feeling disconnected from your faith. Some people carry fears around the spiritual realm, worries about demons, visions, or dreams that are hard to understand. These experiences can feel isolating or frightening when you don’t have a safe space to explore them.
We welcome all conversations about spirituality and religion, no matter your faith, background, or beliefs. We provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can openly discuss your spiritual concerns, questions, and experiences. Whether your faith is a central part of your sessions or something you want to explore lightly, you’re free to bring it in or leave it out.
Our goal is to support you as a whole person, mind, body, and spirit and to honour the important role that spirituality can play in your healing and growth.

Low Self-Esteem and Low Self-Worth
Low self-esteem and low self-worth can quietly affect many areas of your life, shaping the choices you make, often without you even realising it. Read more...
You might avoid going for the job you really want because you don’t believe you’re good enough. You could find yourself settling for partners who don’t truly value you or feel unattractive and undeserving of love. These feelings can limit your potential and hold you back from living the life you deserve.
Often, low self-esteem has roots in past experiences or trauma, maybe critical voices from childhood, difficult relationships, or painful events have shaped the way you see yourself today. In our sessions, we’ll explore these origins and gently challenge the negative beliefs you’ve carried for so long.
You’ll learn to recognise your strengths and practice self-compassion, treating yourself with the same kindness and understanding you’d offer a close friend. This shift helps you break free from harmful patterns and build a more positive, realistic view of yourself. When you start to value yourself more, you’ll feel empowered to make choices that truly reflect who you are and what you want.

Building Confidence and Managing Impostor Syndrome
Building confidence is about finding your voice and trusting yourself, even when doubts creep in. Read more...
Impostor syndrome, that nagging feeling that you’re a fraud, that you don’t deserve your success, or that you’re fooling everyone, can seriously undermine your confidence and hold you back from stepping into your full potential.
In therapy, I’ll teach you how to be assertive in a way that’s firm but respectful, helping you express your needs, boundaries, and opinions without aggression or self-doubt. We’ll work on practical strategies to recognise and challenge impostor thoughts, so you can begin to internalise your achievements and feel more secure in your identity.
This isn’t about perfection but about growing a genuine belief in yourself and your value. Confidence grows when you embrace your strengths, accept your imperfections, and stop waiting for external validation. I’ll support you through this journey so you can stand tall, own your space, and move forward with greater ease and self-assurance.
I also run an 8-week life skills program designed to help you develop practical tools for personal growth and development. Throughout the course, you’ll learn to communicate more assertively, set and maintain healthy boundaries, and manage conflict with greater confidence.
Together, we’ll explore your behavioural and thought patterns, helping you gain insight into your trauma responses and discover effective strategies for managing stress. You’ll also develop a deeper understanding of your strengths and learn how to navigate endings, whether in relationships or life situations, with greater clarity and self-compassion.

The weekly topics in this course can support you in having a life-changing transition, taking you on a discovery journey of yourself.
I work in person and online.
I offer in-person sessions in various locations:
These spaces are easily accessible from underground stations of Shoreditch, Liverpool Street, Buckhurst Hill, Roding Valley and Loughton.
For those unable to attend in person, I also provide online therapy sessions via online platforms, offering a flexible and confidential way to connect wherever you are.

Sessions last 50 minutes and can be held weekly or fortnightly, on a regular day and time.
Standard session rate: £70
I offer a few spaces for reduced cost sessions, please enquire if this is an option for you.
Free 20-minute phone consultation: An informal chat to explore what you're looking for, ask any questions, and see if we’re a good fit to work together.
I offer:
We’ll regularly review our work together to make sure it continues to support you in the right way.
If you’d like to learn more about how counselling works or arrange an initial assessment, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
During our first conversation, we can explore what brings you to counselling, how it might support you, and whether I’m the right therapist for you.
You’re welcome to use the secure contact form on this website, or if you prefer, you can call me on +44 7955619858 to leave a message or speak directly.
All enquiries are treated with the utmost confidentiality and are usually answered within 24 hours.
You can talk to me about anything that’s on your mind, whether it’s anxiety, stress, depression, burnout, low self-esteem, grief, relationship challenges, identity, past experiences, spiritual concerns, or simply feeling stuck. Some clients come with a clear issue; others just know they don’t feel right. Either way, you’re welcome.
Our first full session is a gentle introduction. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to therapy or coaching, what you’re hoping to get out of it, and begin to explore your story. It’s also a chance for us to get a feel for working together. Before this session, I’ll ask you to fill in a couple of short forms with some basic information.
Yes, I offer a free 20-minute no-obligation telephone call so you can ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and decide if we’re a good fit before committing to a full session.
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I use a blend of different therapy styles — including person-centred, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, existential, and creative techniques. I also work in a way that’s trauma-informed, sensitive to cultural, race and spiritual and faith-based concerns, and always tailored to you. Our sessions can be structured or open-ended, depending on what you need.
I run a women’s counselling practice supporting clients from age 18 and through all life stages. I’m passionate about providing tailored support that meets the unique needs of each stage of life in a safe, compassionate space.
Online counselling offers flexibility, comfort, and accessibility — you can attend sessions from your own space, which can feel safer and more convenient. However, it may not suit everyone; some people prefer in-person connections or may find it harder to focus or open up online. It's important to have a stable internet connection and ensure you're in a private space, so you feel free to share openly and get the most out of your sessions.
We’ll decide together what works best for you. The number and frequency of sessions often depend on your individual needs and goals. Some clients come for a short period — around 6 to 12 sessions — while others choose to continue longer term.
We might begin with weekly sessions and later move to fortnightly, depending on what feels right and is therapeutically most helpful for you. There’s no obligation or fixed commitment — you’re free to pause or end sessions at any time.
Yes, I offer both in-person and online sessions, depending on what works best for you. I’ll do my best to make the process feel relaxed and comfortable either way.
My current fees are £70. I offer a few spaces for reduced-cost sessions. Please enquire if this is an option for you.
Yes — confidentiality is a key part of counselling. Everything we talk about stays between us, unless there’s a serious risk to your safety or someone else’s. I’ll explain this fully in our first session, so you know exactly where you stand.
You can book by using the contact details on the homepage. Just get in touch and we’ll arrange a time that works for you.
Each session is 50 minutes long.
